Hello! I’m Kasandra Reyes the founder of Amending Spaces Mental Health Counseling PLLC.
The inspiration for Amending Spaces was born during my sophomore year for college when I was struggling to stay out of academic probation. I was sitting in a Psychology 101 class, hoping for an easy ‘A,’ when the professor started talking about anxiety. In that moment it clicked, that’s what I’d been struggling with! In the process of seeking support and trying to understand what I was dealing with, I encountered so many obstacles from having to hurdle over my own bias’ to finding the right therapist. Through it all, it frustrated me that it had taken over 18 years of my life to have access to information about mental health. Thus, Amending Spaces was born out of the desire to bring mental health information and services that are simple, high quality and accessible to the community.

As an integrative mental health practitioner, my approach starts with an emphasis on creating a safe and trusting environment where clients can feel welcomed to be themselves. Understanding that everyone is different, I work with flexibility and creativity to help tailor sessions to the person or couple. I tend to draw upon principals from narrative therapy, psychodynamic therapy, cognitive- behavioral therapy, trauma informed therapy, and mindfulness practices. The populations I have worked with have been diverse in ethnic background, financial resources, and stage of life. While I have experience treating a wide range of disorders my expertise is in treating mood, anxiety, trauma and stress related disorders.
